Protect the Flows. Protect Our Jobs.
Protect the Flows is a network of over 800 businesses who depend on a healthy Colorado River for our bottom lines. We own and operate businesses in communities along the Colorado River and its tributaries in Arizona, Colorado, Utah, Wyoming, California, Nevada, and New Mexico. The economic future of the west is tied to a Colorado River that flows strong and beckons people to communities along its banks for recreation and tourism.
Every business owner knows you can’t run a business without watching your bottom line. A successful business keeps their doors open by ensuring there is enough revenue coming in to cover their expenses. A river works the same way. Its like a bank account.

Colorado River Named Nation’s Most Endangered River
Water flows into the Colorado River as snow in the Rocky Mountains melts, and water flows out of the River to supply drinking water and irrigate our crops. More water leaves the Colorado River than enters it each year because of chronic drought, population growth, energy development and climate change. In the last 13 years water storage in the basin has decreased by 40%.
If we stay on our current course, the Colorado River will slow to a trickle. Fish won’t be beckoning anglers to book a weekend trip. Rafters won’t show up to brave the rapids. Hikers and scenery seekers will go elsewhere. Local communities will become a less attractive place to live. Read O.A.R.S Whitewater Rafting’s blog post about the importance of the river to their business and then Tell Congress to support programs that sustain the Colorado River.
